P3497 engine error code

Noticed a small amount of leak on my 2014 honda pilot so i decided to replace the VVT solenoids with fake oem honda seals temporarily. I then went out of town and asked my youngest to fire up the engine for about 15-20mins each day til i get back. on the 3rd day my son reported that the check engine light popped up. as soon as i got back i scanned it using a vcmtuner that i ordered since i got some info from a friend that they really are prone to vcm issues and yep it showed a p3497 error code. just a bit concerned coz i have a strong feeling that all this is connected to the replacement that i did. any advice?

Yep the most logical reason would be the fake oem replacement. it matches the error code that says the problem is within the vcm system. best to have it checked asap. Did you notice an increase in the fuel consumption?

code P3497 is usually related to oil. have you checked the engine oil level? My friend had this code before and he changed the oil pressure sensor switch. to make sure, you need to go to the dealer, bro

this worked on my sister's car. But yes, no harm in going to the dealer to get it checked

One thing to add after you replace them, make sure to clear the error code properly and reset the system. If the P3497 comes back, it might be worth checking the vcm system for any other underlying issues

you mean like through the infotainment or smth like that? no you need a scanner i think even the cheaper ones would do the trick here

it's okay to replace it with a non OEM part, but they need to be high quality or there will be more problems after
