Fuel tank maximum

This morning, while filling my gas tank with a bit of a foggy mind, I accidentally put in over 20 gallons, even though my manual says the tank capacity is just over 19 gallons. Im now wondering if the manual is inaccurate or if i should question the accuracy of the gas pump meter.

Its pretty common because most tanks have a little extra capacity in the filler neck and expansion space, so you can usually squeeze in more than the official number. I wouldn't sweat it unless you notice a big pattern

I learned this the hard $$$ way..,when you fill up your vehicle and the pump clicks off - you’re done. Topping off frequently can mess up your emissions system.
