Trunk sensor issue

My husband's 2010 Pilot started acting up.

The trunk looks as though it's shut tight, but the dash keeps saying it's open. So in the end, it won't let us lock the doors remotely. Sometimes it'll work for a bit, but then the alarm goes off not long after.

I'm guessing it's the sensor, but I have no clue where it's actually located. Would appreciate any tips.

It looks like the tailgate latch sensor might be acting funny since it's part of the latch.Give the latch a good clean and look for any dirt, damage, or loose wires. You could also try disconnecting the batt for a quick reset.

Have you noticed any other electrical issues, or is it just this one?

How can you tell if the trunk sensor is faulty versus just needing a reset? Have you checked the latch area or inside the trunk for any obvious signs?
